Time goes by so quickly

Wow I can’t believe it is almost the end of Summer already. I woke up yesterday and walked outside and felt that chill in the air of Fall. This time of the year always makes me a little sad. I think the thoughts of going back to school as a child, and the weather changing is just too much to handle all at once.
I love the fact that the holidays are so close though. With September right around the corner I know that it will not be long before we are all out Christmas shopping. The excitement of Thanksgiving and Christmas always seems to pull me through the months of Fall. I guess change is good and one of these years I will come to believe that.
Famous People

I can’t believe the story I just read about Shelley Malil. I can’t believe it. He was such an amazing actor and looked so normal. I still feel that people who are capable of murder or attempted murder should look different to us so we can spot them. Oh it is such a shame to be so successful and so well thought of and then to turn out to be crazy or worse yet evil.
It’s hard to imagine having a life so blessed and then ruining it all. He had family and friends and a great career as well as financial stability. I guess it is true what they say money does not buy happiness. For someone to come so far in such a short time and then throw it all away. We definitely need more prayers in this world and more focus on God and less on ourselves.

The 2008 Olympic Games

Watching the opening events for the 2008 Olympics was great. With the war going on in Iraq and the other wars happening around the world, I think it was great to see the majority of countries come together for the Olympic Games. I was surprised to see the Middle East (Iran and Iraq) as part of the 2008 Olympics. I think the timing is perfect it is about time we come together and leave our political differences aside.
Speaking of Politics I have finally registered to vote. After years and years of wanting to do it I finally did. I haven’t been able to get my husband to do it yet, but I’m working on it. He is not a sports fan either, but he was happy to sit down and watch part of the Olympics with me as well. He loved the opening ceremony and said that he wished he was there to see it in person. Hopefully in 2012 the games will be played a little bit closer to the United States. As for now we will watch it on TV and hope for the best.
Mackinaw Island

In another post I wrote earlier I was talking about leaving my job. I have done that and I feel a little sadness, but at the same time a sense of relieve as well. I feel like I have my freedom back and more time on my hands. I am going to use every opportunity that becomes available to travel. In fact I am leaving this week to travel to Mackinaw Island, MI.
I haven’t been there since 1989. Our high school trip as seniors was to Mackinaw Island. The funny thing about it is I don’t remember much. I know there are no cars on the island and to get around you have to ride on a horse or in a carriage. There are no computers, no cell phone usage and no televisions. I can’t wait to go but it is definitely going to be interesting. I’m not sure how I’m going to survive without my computer.
