More Dieting Advice
Posted by Gina on Jul 2, 2008
I work in the weight loss field so everyday I am getting bombarded with the latest dieting tips and advice. Most of the time it’s very interesting information, but every once in a while you run across a new diet that someone has come up with and you wonder who in their right mind would ever try this. Well yesterday after work I went to get a pedicure and of course I picked up the health and fitness magazine sitting there. I can’t help it I’m addicted to this stuff. Well a very interesting article was in there written by a doctor focusing on ways to help the obese lose weight.
The plan seemed simple enough, and I have to admit I’m almost tempted to try it myself. It’s premise is a 50/50 approach. Meaning you take the first day and do exactly what you are doing now. So no dieting , no food restrictions, etc. but then on the second day you barely eat. Some people don’t eat at all, but the doctor recommended eating but eating only a very limited number of calories. Which means cutting your calories to about 600. Then the following day going back to normal and eating and so forth. So basically you’re only hunger every other day unlike some diets that keep you hungry continuously. The idea is to boost your metabolism and dieting like this has also been found to help with heart disease. When our calories are limited our bodies have to work harder which in turn produces chemicals that are good for us. This type of plan inspires me. I’m not one who can stay on a restricted number of calories for too long. I just love food too much. But this 50/50 trade off is something I could handle. Maybe tomorrow I’ll give the 600 calorie approach a try.
Advancement in Medicine-C’elle Stem Cell
Posted by Gina on Jul 2, 2008
I love living in this century. I feel so blessed to be a part of this world at this time when new technology and medical advances are on the rise. If you are someone who has always been healthy you may not think about ways in which you can stay strong and active throughout your life. On the other hand if you are someone like me who has suffered with a serious health condition you try to stay up of the latest research. I have been a Diabetic for over 30 years now and after reading about C’elle Stem cell research I feel there is so much hope for the future.
C’elle stem are cells that are harvested from menstrual fluid. These cells can be transformed into many other stem cell types, such as neural, bone, and cardiac. That is great news for anyone suffering from heart disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s or Diabetes just to name a few. You ask what’s in it for you and how it works. Well it’s quite simple if you go to www.celle.com you can order the kit that allows you to collect fluid from your menstrual cycle. Once you do that the sample will be sent to the laboratory and preserved for you in case you or a family member may need it in the future. It’s sort of like taking out an insurance policy on yourself. You will have peace of mind knowing that you have done everything possible in case a chronic or serious health condition hits you or your family. Feel free to read more about it on the website including http://www.celle.com, it’s fascinating.
Being Grateful
Posted by Gina on Jul 1, 2008
I have been asked before what my pet peeve is and at the time I could never come up with one. It wasn’t that people never annoyed me or got on my nerves, but I guess I thought that maybe I was tired or having a bad day. Lately though I have been noticing something that is really bothering me. I think it is called people who are not grateful. Bad manners are one thing but being sarcastic when someone is genuinely trying to help you is unacceptable.
One of my coworkers pointed out this pet peeve to me. There was always something about her that got on my nerves. I just couldn’t put my finger on it. Then one day I was trying to help her with something and instead of saying thank you she was acting very rude and obnoxious. I stopped her and said if you know how to do it then why do you keep making the same mistake?! It was very frustrating. Then I stopped myself as a flashback came to mind and I saw myself in her. Many, many years ago of course but the same behavior has come out of me. The disgust and shock I have felt about myself ever since, but I also learned a very important lesson. Always be kind because a lot of times people don’t realize how they are acting.

Mind Over Matter

Why is it that when you think about someone you usually end up seeing them or hearing from them!? I have been thinking about one of my girlfriends the past couple of weeks on and off. Then today out of the blue I get a call from her. That may not seem all that strange, but the thing is we haven’t talked in about 6 months. She lives out of state and has 2 little boys so her free time is limited. I usually work late at night so we haven’t been able to catch up.
The thing I love about Lucy though is the minute we talk again it feels like no time has passed by. I swear those friends are gifts from God. She is like a sister to me. One thing that keeps our bond so tight is that we both have Diabetes. I got mine as a child and she came down with it in her early 20’s. I really think God brings people into your life for a reason. I feel so comfortable sharing my struggles with insulin reactions and food cravings with her. I am so thankful for her and our friendship.
Lap-Band Surgery
Posted by Gina on Jul 1, 2008
New Hope Bariatrics is a center that performs the safest and least invasive weight loss surgery called lap-band surgery. I am all for this method of weight loss. I have worked in the weight loss industry for a number of years and have seen tears shed in my office due to women and men who have given up all hope to ever live a normal, healthy, life. Their inability to lose weight on their own has in many cases caused then to suffer from depression, anxiety and a whole scope of other medical problems.
On the other hand I have also worked with clients who have successfully lost weight. Whether people can do it with exercise and eating right or whether surgery is the answer for them I say it’s an individual choice. The outcome is what really matters. The lapband surgery has been an effective way for clients to reach their goal weight through a safe and medically supervised method. The lap-band essentially makes your stomach smaller so you are able to feel full and satisfied with fewer calories. I have only heard great things about this surgery and as I said I have been teaching weight loss classes for a number of years. For more information feel free to go online to www.newhopetoday.com. The website includes patient success stories and benfits of the procedure. Facility locations include Los Angeles, Kansas City, and Charlotte, NC.
Decorating the House
Posted by Gina on Jun 30, 2008
This past weekend I had a couple of days off from work. It felt kind of weird to have so much free time. It helped me to relax and brought to mind some things that I have put off due to lack of time. One of those things is redecorating our house. We moved in about 3 years ago and still haven’t quite finished all the decorating.
I have decided to do some work on our family room. That is the room that we have neglected the most. It seems like that’s also the room that we are in the least. So my plan is to finish painting the ceiling and also to get rid of some of the clutter. Our house is pretty small so having too many books or magazines makes a difference. It makes the house look messy. So my next big task will be redoing that room. I can already envision what I want it to look like. I can’t wait until it’s done. I guess I put it off long enough it’s time to get started.
Structured Settlement Quotes
Posted by Gina on Jun 30, 2008
If there is one thing we can all agree on it’s that the cost of living has escalated. It scares me to think about the state of our economy. I’m fairly young so I haven’t lived through a depression or economic downfall, at least not one that I’m aware of. I know that going through tough times is just a part of life and I also know that eventually things will improve. In the meantime though, it’s nice to know that there are companies out there such as ones that offer structured settlements to individuals that can help out.
Structured Settlements are cash payments made to individuals from insurance companies due to an injury for example. What a lot of people don’t realize is that they may be entitled to a lump sum payout. With the high gas prices, the high food prices, and the high number of foreclosures occurring this may be something that would interest a lot of people. Many options are available including cashing in on some of your future settlement payments or all of them. You will be put in contact with a structured settlement buyer who will be able to go over all of your options with you. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by go to www.structuredsettlement-quotes.com. They have a lot of articles about settlements that can help you, such as the article about silence in the settlement factoring industry.
It is always a smart idea to do some research before jumping right in when money is involved. Also be sure to find out what the legislation is in your state for settlements.
Bible Study
Posted by Gina on Jun 29, 2008
I am doing a great Bible Study on Proverbs. I mentioned it to one of my dear friends and she bought me a study guide book to go along with it. It’s amazing how writing things down and actually taking time to go back and study them allows you to remember what you have read so much better. The book of Proverbs is only 30 chapters long yet the information you will acquire by reading it is beyond all expectations.
If you think back to when the Bible was written it’s hard to believe that those people who lived 2000 years ago dealt with similar situations that we face today. It’s hard for me to understand how that can be. Their lifesyle was so different than what ours is today. Yet the principles and ideas throughout the Bible are easy to relate to things that we struggle with now. I highly recommend the book of Proverbs to anyone who is looking for wisdom and understanding in their day to day lives.
Wireless Headsets

When you think about inventions what comes to mind first? Some might say the light bulb or maybe the telephone. But there is one invention that doesn’t get the praise it deserves. That invention is wireless headsets. These things are amazing, I absolutely love them. Not only do I use them when I work-out, but when I clean the house, when I go on long walks, or when I am on the computer. During work we all use headsets for conference calls or during internet trainings too.
I first started using headsets years ago when I worked in a call center. I received about fifty to sixty calls a day and had to keep the headsets on while I was at my desk. They were comfortable and easy to use. The calls came in clear and I remember reaching a point during the day where I forgot I was wearing them at all. Years later I discovered this internet site called mobilebloc.net that offered headsets at unbeatable prices. After researching a couple of different sites I went with mobilebloc. I decided to get some for my work-outs as well as some for the home. I love listening to music when I work-out and the headsets from skype wireless headsets make it so easy. The other use I found for them was when I’m cooking dinner or vacuuming the house. Those are always the times when my best friend is having a crisis and needs to talk to me. I can just put my wireless headsets on and talk to her while the vacuum is running or the food is being prepared. I love the fact that I can get two things done at once. My husband gets his dinner on time and Alley gets to talk to me about the latest heartbreak she’s facing.
